TOP-UP to an MBA or MSc degree

This is an excellent opportunity for the students who already have an NQF level 7 Edexel Diploma in Management Studies or approved Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration to top this up to Masters Degree. Those students who also have the Work Experience requirement detailed below will be awarded the MBA. Those students who do not have the Work Experience requirement detailed below will be awarded the MSc.
Student are required to successfully complete Foundation programme before progressing towards their Dissertation.

Foundation programme has two modules, assessment will be done on the basis of course work. Students are required to submit one assignment of 2,500 words for each of the following modules

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Module 1: Business Environment |
The objective of this module is to identify the impact of global factors and the
international business environment on organisational performance.
This module consists of the following topics:
- Global Political and Regulatory factors – Overview of international trade, classical theory, gains from trade, equilibrium terms of international trade, neo-classical theory, critique of neo-classical trade theory, modern trade theories.
- International Trade Policies – Tariffs, non-tariffs, barriers to trade, arguments for trade intervention, trade polices.

Module2: Operations Management |
The focus of this module is to analyse and critically reflect on how operation management tools and concepts can enhance the effectiveness of an organisation through improved decision making.
This module consists of the following topics:
- Operation Technologies
- Facility Capacity, Location and Layout
- Services Operations Manufacturing Operations Scheduling
- Resource Requirements Planning

Dissertation |
The dissertation gives students the opportunity to pursue a specific interest. This substantial component of the course capitalises on students' skills as a graduate and allow them to develop business insight. The Dissertation requires the student to evaluate and synthesise relevant literature and use appropriate research methodology to produce a paper of approximately 20,000 words.
The objectives of the dissertation are:
- To allow the students to carry out a self-managed piece of work that provides an in-depth investigation of business management issues;
- To reflects upon, apply and develop theory from analysis of data;
- To argue and critically evaluate alternative research claims with justification;
- To select and utilise appropriate research methods effectively;
- To collect data to meet academic and organisational needs;
- To reflect a substantive academic research dissertation based on recognised and justified research methods and to include description of a range of research approaches and methods

For applying this course you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. If you have IELTS 5.0 then you can take a six month pre-sessional English course.
Applicants must provide proof of their scores, ideally an IELTS TRF (test report form), but internationally recognised equivalents (Cambridge FCE, TOEIC, TOEFL, iGCSE, BULATS) will be also be accepted, as will A level equivalent (HSC) In English.

Work Experiences
If you are applying for the MBA Top-Up you will need to show evidence of 2 years of relevant work experience. This work experience must be of a supervisory nature, during which time you had some management responsibilties. You must list and describe the responsibilties you have had. This work experience will be proved with references from your employers. These references will need to contain details of your work and the dates on which you were employed.
Please list in the GC application form the work experience you wish us to consider. If you do not have satisfactory levels of Work experience we may offer you the M.Sc. as an alternative.
We may ask you to scan and send letters as attachments in an email. In any event you will be required to bring original documents, including references, when you arrive at the college.
