HND in Computing

What is it?
The BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) is a specialist programme with a strong work related emphasis. The course is made up of sixteen units eight core units, which everyone takes, and eight specialist units. 

The BTEC (Business Technology Engineering Council) HND provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector with national recognition by employers, allowing progression direct into employment or to degree.

Who is it for?
HND in Computing is ideal for those wishing to study at undergraduate Business Information Technology and network engineering qualifications for better job prospects.

Entry Requirements

  1. BTEC HNC or Diploma in an appropriate area
  2. 2. AVCE/GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area
  3. 3. A Level profile, supported by GCSE grades at level A-C
  4. 4. NVQ Level 3 or related work experience

Duration
2 years

Course Units
The course is made up of sixteen units - six core units, two compulsory specialist units and eight specialist units. The course lasts for two years.

Core units

All students enrolled in HND Computing must take the following 8 core units:

  2. Systems Analysis
  3. Programming Concepts
  4. Database Design Concepts
  5. Networking Concepts
  6. Personal Skills Development
  7. Information Systems
  8. Information Systems Project

Optional course units may differ depending on the choice made by a student.
